MOS hits the 500 mark!
Closed out 2019 at 550 copies. I can’t believe it. Let’s talk numbers. What does 550 copies mean? I distributed 125 myself through bookstores, my street team, friends and events. I sold 138 paperback, 89 digital, 161 audio copies and the equivalent of 53.68 in Kindle Unlimited pages read. The book was read in the US, UK, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Australia, India and Spain.
We’ve already talked about what indie authors make, check the link out if you haven’t read it. I’m updating it w/ current year end numbers now.
But what does it mean, does it matter. Yes and No … 550 copies is amazing, 8 countries is incredible. Is it impressive? For me yes! For actual publishing numbers no. Turns out an ok paperback “print run” is around 15,000 – 25,000 copies. THOUSAND … ugh … we’ll get there.
550 people read my book, it is on 811 people shelf to read on Goodreads. It has a 3.89 rating on Goodreads and a 5 star rating on Amazon.
This was a good year, this was a successful year. Part 2 is going to be released in 2020 and I’m looking forward to seeing the two books work together to support themselves. For my next trick I’m going to begin the process of attempting a traditional publishing contract. I hope you all enjoyed 2019 as much as I did. It truly was a year to remember. Best wishes for 2020.
Bravo!!
