How to be Newsworthy …
I’d like to claim that the release of a new fiction novel is newsworthy. I don’t think it is though. I just sent out half a dozen press releases to local newspaper/media outlets with the hope that someone is going to read it, think I’m witty and want to put it in their paper. On a couple of them I threw in a joke just in case they find me amusing.
So how does one become newsworthy. I imagine in my wildest dreams some famous author seeing all my twitter posts and commenting on one of them. … oh yeah this blog automatically goes to twitter too. THANK GOD, there’s no way I could tweet as much as people do. I’d begin to trend … pre-sales will go through the roof and I’ll have to set a release date for Part 2 of the Sunshine Series. But then reality strikes and I realize that I’m sitting in my kitchen writing furiously at 5 am with a cup of tea and a blanket wrapped around me because my children will be up ANY MINUTE!!
So here’s my need to do list to increase my visibility. Get one of those newspapers to call me back. Create a twitter hashtag thingy’s for the book, I should probably figure out what those are and what they do first. But hey I built this website and didn’t know how to do that either, just started typing. How hard can it be? Get more instagram follows, do I have to do snapchat??? Isn’t that only for nudes … someone please help me with that one.
Oh and I need subscribers. Probably should have started with that one, half of you that started to read this already got bored and stopped. Subscribe to my website!! Tell your friends, you KNOW an author its bragging rights … sort of, kind of, just freaking tell someone. I’ll take pre-orders too if you know someone that likes to read :).
