Groupon Doesn’t Work on Weekends
Really Groupon, really? You are a large company with I would guess at least a million users and your message on your answering service is “Hello, you have reached Groupon, we aren’t open right now because we are afraid of the dark and of weekends.” … REALLY?
My son, the angel that he is likes to play with cell phones. Some people grimace when I give him my phone and let him play with it which at some point turns into him trying to eat it. And to these people I say “it’s better than me letting him play with knives”. It is funny though I can see it in their faces the disapproval. Some people are totally fine with it, others are genuinely repulsed. I am learning though to pick and choose my battles, my son is happy and distracted for 5 – 8 minutes while playing around with my phone … SOLD. I can butcher a cow in 8 minutes, or build a sky scraper or do a myriad of other amazing things in the 8 minutes my son is happily attempting to open Safari or delete my apps. So go play with my phone be happy …
That is until I catch a glimpse of the fact that he has opened Groupon. Initially this does not concern me, whatever play with Groupon. MISTAKE … huge MISTAKE!
“Thank you for your purchase” flashes across the screen and a sense of dread settles into my stomach.
“What did you do?” I ask him which only gets me smiles. I gently pry my cell phone from his hands which gets me some alligator tears. I go immediately to my e-mail and find that yes indeed I have a confirmation e-mail about the Groupon I just purchased. To a resteraunt apparently …
Ok … not terrible, I like to eat … the place is call La Luce. Go ahead follow the link .. its in FUCKING CHICAGO!
Damn …. I will not be traveling to Chicago before April when the Groupon expires. And apparently no one works at Groupon on the weekends because they are afraid of them. So at this point if anyone is traveling or is living in Chicago and would like a Groupon, shoot me over $35 bucks we can discuss payment methods and the thing is yours. I will be calling Groupon on Monday … if they work on New Year’s Eve .. I’m guessing they don’t. To see if there is any kind of precedent for reversing purchases done by 9 month olds.
